How It Came To Be

In the spring of 2010, a consortium of student organizations led the charge to implement a $3.00 per fall or spring semester fee or a $1.50 summer semester fee. This fee will generate approximately $300,000 per academic year for sustainability initiatives.

The students passed the referendum with 57% supporting the effort.

The authorization for the fee expires after five years. If the Texas Legislature extends the authorization, students will have the opportunity to renew the Aggie Green Fund. The amount per semester will only increase with another student referendum.
